The Gift That Keeps On Giving

I wonder, in the wonder and chaos of Christmas morning, what would happen if you unwrapped a present and discovered it was not a candle, more slippers, a Santa tie, or a wrong-sized sweater but the gift was simply love. As you open it, you feel loved right in the middle of the Christmas mess. The messiness of doubts and failures, your silly quirks that bug everyone, the feelings of just not-good-enoughness, and your lonely moments are wrapped up by pure love.

The baby born in a manger so long ago is that gift of love! For God so loved the world that He gave. God is the best gift giver. His gifts don’t need to be returned or exchanged and they’re never the wrong size! They are the gifts we truly need – to be loved, to be accepted, to be forgiven, and to have purpose. And the cool thing is, God encourages us to re-gift these gifts to others.

We will be unwrapping this gift of love every day for the rest of our lives. It's a gift that brings hope and light in the darkness and uncertainty of our world. It's a gift that transforms us from the inside out. It’s a gift of lavish grace. This gift is Jesus. Born, crucified, and resurrected so that we might find love!

Merry Christmas!

“For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son...”

John 3:16
